Weather & AQI
Data is pulled from Weather.gov (NWS) & Airnow.gov Air Quality for fire training risk evaluation.
How to interpret this tool
- Heat Index (HI) is calculated using NWS/NOAA guidance from temperature and relative humidity.
- Adjusted HI adds penalty for direct sun and structural PPE (up to +20°F combined).
- Medium = modify training; High = no live fire / high-heat PPE drills; Extreme = postpone outdoor skill-based training.
- Air Quality (AQI) uses US AQI scale. ≥100 may impact sensitive individuals; ≥150 is generally unsuitable for strenuous outdoor training.
